Maybe Yes Or Maybe No

By Kathy Gottberg

As Thom and I hiked through the forest this morning he happened to mention the obvious. That was how neither of us could have predicted how the summer of 2020 would unfold.  And I’m guessing that none of you could either.  Even if we have managed to stay healthy, and that the vast majority of our family and friends are managing it as well, it seems like every new day brings some unsettling news.  Surely none of us would have “chosen” the current situation.

However at the same time, I’m also reminded of the Wayne Dyer quote, “I don’t know enough to be a pessimist.”  In other words, I’ve have repeatedly believed that in spite of any appearance to the contrary, that good can and will eventually come from any situation.  Supporting that idea is one of my favorite stories I like to call, “Maybe Yes, Maybe No.” [Read more…]

The Problem Is Not The Problem

By Kathy Gottberg

The problem is not the problemOn any given day, many of us will wake up and face what we consider to be a huge problem. If you’ve been watching the news lately, then you’ll agree. Top that off with any personal or health problems you have, and sometimes those problems appear overwhelming. But gradually through the years I’m learning that where ever and whatever I put my focus on, grows. Most problems are like that. I also remember hearing the late Norman Vincent Peale give a talk one time when he said, “The number of problems you face shows the aliveness in your life. The only people who don’t have problems are six feet under.” With that in mind, could it be that the way we choose to look at the problems confronting us is the real problem? [Read more…]

Wayne Dyer: The Passing of A Self-Help Master

By Kathy Gottberg

SMART Living 365.comEver since hearing of the passing of Dr. Wayne Dyer last Sunday I have mulled over ways to write about him that haven’t already been said. The easy way would be to list my top 10 or 50 of his best quotes. Yes, there are hundreds of them. But a quick search on Google shows that dozens of other writers have already done that. So gradually I realized that if I was to write anything new about Wayne Dyer, it had to be my own unique perspective on what he added to my life. And chances are good that his words and wisdom have touched others in a similar way. With that in mind, here are five ways the work of Wayne Dyer will forever be part of my life. [Read more…]

Do You Like To Play The Game or Just In It For The Trophy?

Like the game or just going after the trophy?

The other day during my morning walk I was listening to a talk by Abraham-Hicks who is the author of The Law Of Attraction.   I find that listening to talks while walking makes the time go quickly, and if I’m listening to something uplifting I start my day in a positive way.  During that particular morning Abraham-Hicks was responding to a question from a young man who wanted to know why it was taking so long for his dreams to be realized.  Like many people, he wanted to know if he was doing something wrong or if there was something he could do to make it happen faster.  That’s when Abraham-Hicks asked the young man a question that made me stop, rewind my iPod and listen again.  She asked, “Do you think any successful person is doing what they do just for the trophy?  Or do you think they love the game?”  When I heard those questions I knew it applied to most people, myself included, in more ways than we usually consider.
