Welcome to SMART Living!

photo2 150x150 Welcome to SMART Living!Ta-Da!! This is my first official post.  And while it is very tempting to hold off until I have the perfect thing to say, I think it is far better to just get started than obsess about whether it will be good enough, wise enough, cover enough, or even make sense.  Maybe that is one of the first ideas that make SMART Living 365?

In other words, don’t put off doing something because you are worried about the end-product.  I’ve provided a great example about how I can up with a thousand reasons not to make this first post.  But every one of them is just a delay-tactic, thinking I could eventually create something so perfect that anyone who ever read it would think that I was #1 brilliant; #2 wise; #3 insanely creative; #a great writer; etc. etc…you get the idea right?

When it comes down to it, sometimes the best course of action is just taking that first step.  SMART Living requires that we don’t obsess over every little detail.  Instead we enjoy the process and do what we can with what we have.  We never let perfectionism stop us in our tracks.  We seize the day—live each day as a precious gift—and never let our fears stop us from doing what we dream.  Not quite up to that yet—then at least we do the best we can.

In the days ahead I intend to share ideas that I have on a regular basis about what both myself and my husband Thom have done in the past to create what we consider to be a very fulfilled life.  But even though I do think I have a great life, I realize that I am a work in progress and really only know a tiny bit about the subject.  That’s why I intend to keep learning and sharing any and all tips, information and ideas I come across that will help me continue creating a life that is SMART 365.

So join me on this new journey and together we will create SMART Living 365.

  6. I’m delighted to read something SMART because it encourages me to get better in the 5 areas …especially AT …Artful and Thankful! I’m tired of the “Idiots Guide to …” and love the positive spin you have, especially on “failure”. Thanks for taking the time to encourage me! I appreciate your well thought-out words.

  7. Great SMART name for every day of the year! I love it and keep up the great postings!

Hi Kathy – this is awesome. What a delight to read your words (& I hear your voice when I read them!!) So glad you’re doing it! Blessings, Deb

  9. Kathy – I’m “in!” Girl, you always speak the truth – and in such an engaging down to earth manner. Today’s first entry – bingo! Such a reminder that I need. Thank you thank you. So on a rudimentary level – of “just doing it” as you encourage in your blog – I have my iPhone – been a week. Talk about pointing and grunting and somehow finding my way!! But dang… I jumped in and now I’m more or less swimming. Thanks for your encouragement about that move awhile back. Anyhow – the practical applications (dare I say “apps?!”) of the message in today’s blog – are multitudinous… :-)

    • Hi Karen…thanks for checking in with a comment. Not quite sure where this will lead but decided I couldn’t help myself :-) And YES! don’t you just love your iphone? I can’t imagine what we did without it! I’m sure there will be a blog about that at some point! How’s things with you and “church?’ Great news about the merger right? HOpe all is well with you and you’re loving your life too!…luv, kg
